The Scout manual

Every control, what it does, and what changing it gets you.

The overlay

Scout lives on SellerAmp SAS pages as a small round launcher handle. It only appears when your license is unlocked. It shows up as soon as Scout detects at least one product row, or after roughly 24 seconds of waiting either way, so a slow page never leaves you without it. Default position is the bottom right corner. Drag it anywhere you like, the position sticks. Click it (or press Enter or Space when focused) to open the panel.

The panel

The panel has four tabs: Eligibility, Filters, Results, and Bulk. Above the tabs you get a stats row with Ungated, Gated, and Unknown counters, plus two login chips for SellerAmp and Seller Central. Each chip shows signed in, signed out, or can't check, refreshes on demand, and auto re-checks every 60 seconds while the panel is open. The bottom of the panel is an always-on status bar: Idle, Scanning, Paused, Done, Stopped, or Attention, with a detail line, per-verdict counts, and a scrolling log. The overlay follows the theme you set in the popup (system, light, or dark).

Scan flow

Hit Scan eligibility on the Eligibility tab. Scout checks your logins first: a confirmed Seller Central sign-out blocks the scan, an inconclusive check warns Verdicts may come back Unknown but proceeds. The scan covers only the rows currently visible on the page (your filters apply) that have a detectable ASIN, and skips rows that already have a yes or no verdict. Click the button while running to pause, click again to resume, or use Stop to abort.

Per product, the badge flips to CHECKING, Scout fetches the verdict (reusing a shared ledger from a co-installed SourceHawk Expert first, then its own 24 hour cache, then a live Seller Central check), updates the badge, saves the result, and waits your chosen delay. When it finishes, the toast reads Scan complete: N ungated of M, while the status bar log reads Done. X ungated, Y gated, Z unknown (plus a reused-from-Expert count when that applies) and the detail line shows how many products were checked. If Amazon rate-limits you, the first bounce toasts a suggestion to pick a slower speed.

Speeds

Four options: Safe · 1.0s per product (default), Normal · 0.8s, Fast · 0.5s, and Very fast · 0.3s. Very fast risks rate limits. On a 200-row page, Safe takes about three and a half minutes. That is usually worth it: rate limits cost more time than they save.

The badges

Every scanned row gets one of four badges, always word plus color so you never rely on color alone:

  • UNGATED (green): no selling restrictions detected. Best-effort signal, not a guarantee.
  • GATED (red): restricted, approval required. Hover for the reason.
  • CHECKING (gray): check in progress.
  • UNKNOWN (amber): the check was inconclusive. Signed out, rate limited, no match, or a network error.

Badges are buttons: click one to force a re-check of that ASIN. Verdicts are kept in memory by ASIN and re-applied, so they survive SAS re-renders and switching between Classic and List view.

Filters

The Filters tab hides rows on screen, nothing is ever removed from the page. Every range filter is opt-in with its own enable checkbox, either side of a range can stay blank, and rows with unknown values are always kept. That last rule matters: a filter can never hide a product just because SAS did not show the data.

Three buttons dock above the status bar on this tab. Apply takes a snapshot of the filter inputs and enforces it, so editing an input changes nothing until you Apply again; page mutations and new scan verdicts replay the snapshot. Clear unchecks all filters and advanced toggles (it leaves the ungated-only toggle alone). Save preset stores the current filter UI so it reloads on the next page load. One quirk worth knowing: Apply and Clear also update the stored preset, Save preset just confirms it with a toast without changing what is on screen.

Show ungated only off

Lives on the Eligibility tab, not the Filters tab, and applies live the moment you toggle it. It hides rows a scan classified as gated or unknown; rows that were never scanned stay visible, so the page never blanks. It always starts off and is deliberately not restored from a saved preset.

BSR % off

A min-max range on the BSR percentile, the percentage in parentheses on SAS's BSR widget, not the raw rank. Max prefills to 1, meaning top 1% of category. Old presets saved as a raw rank (anything over 100) get reset to 1. Rows with no parseable BSR% are kept.

Buy Box price off

Hides rows whose Buy Box price falls outside the range; prefills $10 to $80. List view has no Buy Box column, so List rows are never hidden by this filter.

Offers count off

Range on the total offer count, prefilled 2 to 20. In Classic view Scout reads the number straight off the Offers widget. In List view it sums the FBA and FBM chips, plus one if Amazon holds an offer. Useful both ways: a 1-offer listing is usually private label, a 30-offer listing is a knife fight.

Est. sales/mo off

Range on estimated monthly sales, min prefilled to 50. Unknown sales estimates are kept, so this only cuts products SAS actually scored below your floor.

Max cost off

Range on SellerAmp's Max Cost figure, min prefilled to $10. Handy for cutting products where even a $6 source price would not profit.

Store stock off

Range on store stock, min prefilled to 1. List view has no Store Stock column, so it only bites in Classic view.

Hide products where Amazon is on the listing off

Advanced toggle. Hides rows showing SellerAmp's AMZ offer chip, meaning Amazon holds an offer. Works in both view modes, before or after a scan, and never hides a row on an unknown signal.

Hide products with no Buy Box off

Advanced toggle. Hides rows showing NBB or a Buy Box widget with no numeric value. Classic view only; List view carries no Buy Box data, and the UI shows a hint saying so.

Hide products with no BSR off

Advanced toggle. Hides rows with no parseable BSR value. No BSR usually means no meaningful sales history.

Bulk ASIN checker

The Bulk tab checks eligibility for ASINs that are not on the current page. Paste any text, a whole spreadsheet column works fine, and click Parse ASINs. Scout extracts B0-prefix ASINs and 10-digit ISBN-10s (validated with real check-digit math, so a random 10-digit number does not sneak in as a book), dedupes them, and toasts how many it found and how many were new.

Then hit Scan eligibility. Same sign-in preflight, same four speed options, same pause, resume, and stop. Only unchecked ASINs are queued; already-checked ones are skipped, so you can stop halfway and resume tomorrow. Results save after every single ASIN, though the visible list and stat tiles refresh every fifth ASIN during a scan (with a full refresh at the end). Each row shows one of four statuses: PENDING, UNGATED, GATED, or UNKNOWN with a reason tooltip. You get Total, Ungated, Gated, and Unknown tiles, a text filter over ASIN, status, and reason, plus per-row re-check and remove buttons. Clear list only works while idle and asks for confirmation.

Three exports: CSV downloads a file with fixed columns ASIN, Eligibility, Reason, Last Checked, and Amazon URL. Sheet sync appends the same columns to a dedicated Bulk tab of the export spreadsheet, so headers never collide with the Results export. Copy puts tab-separated rows on the clipboard, ready to paste into a sheet.

Results and exports

Scout keeps one record per ASIN, capped at 1000 with the oldest pruned first. Each record carries the verdict plus title, image, category, BSR and BSR%, estimated sales, Max Cost, Buy Box price, stock, offers, source price, the reason, and a timestamp. A blank incoming value never wipes a known one, so a re-check that returns less data does not degrade the record.

Scope differs by surface. The overlay Results tab shows only verdicts produced on the current page since it loaded. The popup Results screen shows every session combined. Both render up to 200 rows, newest first.

  • Download eligible (CSV) exports only ungated records (this session from the overlay, all sessions from the popup) using your Columns configuration.
  • Sync to Sheet appends ungated records to your chosen spreadsheet tab (default tab Scout), same Columns configuration. If Google is not connected you get a friendly error and CSV still works.
  • The overlay Clear confirms with Clear ALL collected results, from every session? and wipes the whole store. Per-row delete exists on both surfaces.

Columns are managed in the popup's Columns tab: toggle each on or off, drag or use arrows to reorder, and Reset restores defaults after a confirm. One config drives both CSV and Sheet sync, in both the overlay and the popup. On by default: Title, ASIN, Amazon URL, Eligibility, BSR %, Buy Box, Est. Sales/mo, Offers. Off by default: BSR (raw rank), Max Cost, Source Price, Store Stock, Category, Eligibility Note, Image URL, Checked At.

Profile transfer

Moving machines? The popup's Setup tab has Export profile and Import profile. Export downloads one JSON file containing your bulk list, filter preset, column configuration, and saved results. The results in the file are exactly what your Results tab shows.

Import validates the entire file before touching anything, so a bad file never leaves you in a half-imported state. You get a preview (result count, bulk ASIN count, whether filters and columns are included, and the export date), then choose Merge or Replace. Merge unions results and the bulk list, keeping the newer record per ASIN, and only applies the file's filters and columns if you tick Also apply the file's filters and columns. Replace overwrites everything after a confirm and always applies the file's config. Imported results are capped at the 1000 newest.

Your license covers two devices, so you may not need to transfer at all. If both slots are used, free one in the Polar customer portal, then activate on the new machine. See setup for activation steps.
